Patrick Okoegwale Innovative Awardee: Dr. Marie Harris

Dr. Marie Harris is a distinguished leader in higher education, known for her commitment to student success, equity, and community engagement. As the first Afro-Latina Vice President of Learning and Student Success at Madera Community College, she has led key diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism initiatives and was instrumental in the college’s 2020 accreditation. Dr. Harris has also championed women's advancement by launching leadership cohorts, athletic programs, and faculty affinity groups, while mentoring and empowering countless women. Her prior work at Reedley College further demonstrated her dedication to academic excellence and student access, particularly in STEM and CTE programs. Recognized with numerous leadership and equity awards, Dr. Harris continues to shape inclusive, transformative educational spaces.

Ken McCoy will be honored for his outstanding work as an internationally recognized photojournalist and entertainment consultant. His impactful storytelling, showcased on platforms like CNN, BET, and at the Academy Awards, highlights positive community narratives. His show, "Ken McCoy Entertainment Report," focuses on uplifting stories and advocating for youth representation in the entertainment industry. Both honorees embody the spirit of community empowerment.

DJ J.Q.Z is a Fresno-based tastemaker who weaves buttery jazz chords, neo-soul grooves, and laid-back hip-hop into seamless sets that light up art shows, cafés, and rooftop lounges alike. A resident spinner for creative pop-ups such as Gallery in the Sky and The Pie Mamas events, he turns every room into a soulful sanctuary built on mellow vibes and masterful transitions.

Event soundtrack architect DJ Nightvibe spins everything from throwback soul to modern EDM, layering turntablism with live percussion flair. Off-stage, he’s also a painter and photographer who lives by the motto “EARTH without ART is EH,” proving his artistry reaches far beyond the booth.
